Bio

Ben Schlidt (b. 1999) is an American painter whose work emerges through the distillation of memory and surface. Influenced by enduring figurative traditions, his paintings begin with found or personal imagery, which he then disrupts through layered, marred, and materially assertive surfaces. In grappling with the physicality of paint, he explores the fallibility of memory—how it erodes, distorts, and reforms.
